Snoring is a sound; obstructive sleep apnoea is a condition, and from the outside they can look the same. The examination shows which level of the airway is narrow, and where it is needed a sleep study shows which of the two you are dealing with.

Young children rarely explain what is wrong. They pull at an ear, sleep restlessly, or stop turning when you call them, and our task is to look carefully, measure what can be measured, and tell you plainly what we found.

Hearing changes can happen slowly. Tinnitus, dizziness and a loss of clarity in conversation often share a source in the ear, and the first step is to find out which one, by measuring rather than assuming.

A cold clears within about a week, and a nose that runs in the morning, blocks at night and sneezes at the office for months is usually reacting to something instead. Testing can identify what that something is, so the treatment can be matched to the cause rather than the symptom.

Your voice is a working tool, and it tells you when something has changed. Hoarseness that lasts more than about three weeks, a voice that tires by the afternoon, or food that catches on the way down all have causes worth seeing.

Surgery is one option among several, and it is not where we begin. When an operation is the right answer, many ENT and head and neck procedures for adults and children are planned as day cases, so that going home the same day is the plan.
